What a surprise we had when we looked at Rep. Jerry Turner’s recent financial filing with the secretary of state’s office. Click on this document to see that Larry Hancock, the opponent’s uncle, contributed $5000 to Turner’s campaign.

What does this say about monolithic family support?

  • Larry’s donation to Turner’s campaign doesn’t have anything to do with politics–unless you count family politics. Recently, Larry wanted to invest in a speculative real estate deal in Texas, where he now lives. He didn’t have enough money on his own, so he tried to get another member of the family to back him. When Lawrence opposed the deal as being too risky, Larry got mad and tried to have Lawrence removed as CEO of the family company but was voted down. Giving money to Turner is just Larry trying again to get back at Lawrence.
